What is the role?

To start off - the title "social rep" does not necessarily imply that we're looking for a 'woke influencer'. Instead, the social rep will be responsible for creating and managing our interactions with prominent social entities (both online as well as in person). A big part of the Qwerty growth plan involves having a robust social media presence that can help us create a valuable network within colleges and also gives students an impression of our brand. In effect, you'd be a catalyst of this effort within your school.

What do you have to do in it?

  1. Social Media Outreach: This goes beyond re-sharing content or promoting certain posts. **** Social media outreach also involves identifying key online platforms and valuable stakeholders who we can initiate a conversation with and then eventually leverage to help us with our expansion and marketing efforts. This also involves identifying and capitalizing on unique outreach opportunities such as instagram takeovers, live sessions and collaborations with other influencers.
  2. Creating Brand Partnerships: A big part of the Social Rep position also involves forming valuable connections with local brands. These brands can be invaluable part of our network as we grow and can help us be a source of awareness as well as potential clients for the advertising capabilities of Qwerty.
  3. Greek Life Outreach: Greek life can be a great network to tap into for growing Qwerty. This is because fraternities and sororities are usually very willing to try something new, especially if this means we can help their chapter or philanthropy in some way. As a social rep, it would be your responsibility to initiate conversations with Greek life and then engage with them to see how we can help them out in exchange for helping us with awareness and expansion.
  4. General Outreach: This one applies to everyone - right from the CEO to the interns in our humble company. We know that at the end of the day most people check things out because someone they know tells them to - so we make sure that everyone on the team reaches out to their direct networks to help our expansion efforts!
    1. Student Clubs and Organizations: Help make introductions for our academic representatives to get the conversation going. They will also help you out with any Greek life or other club connections they may have.
    2. Professors: Professors are one of the most valuable parts of our network. We currently have some great relationships with professors. Helping us expand this network is really important to helping grow the company. As a social rep, if you've worked with some Professors before, it'd be great if you could help our academic reps get in touch with them.

What are the benefits?

  1. The Experience: The work associated with this position is exactly what the founder of an early-stage startup would do. It's exactly what our founders did. You stand to learn not just from their knowledge but also to grow your own arsenal.
  2. The Money: We know that we're a young company and that we have a finite (very finite) amount of funding. But, all good work needs to be compensated. While we won't be able to pay you a fixed amount of money, you will be compensated in proportion to the number of people that join Qwerty in your school. (We will definitely have a more detailed conversation about monetary compensation once you join the team.)
  3. A meaningful addition to your resume: Working for a startup, especially as a college student, can be an invaluable contribution to your resume. Anybody can say that they're a part of x number of clubs on campus, but pushing a startup from a 100 to 1000 users shows people that you walk the talk and have a lot to contribute to their company. It should also go without saying that our founders have no problem writing letters of recommendation for anyone who does quality work.
  4. The Future: Unlike some of the larger companies which have a similar "student affiliate" program, Qwerty is a very young startup. This role presents you with the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of what we hope (and are confident) will one day be a great company. If you plan on doing this for one reason, let that reason be that you like the idea and what our company aspires to do.

If this describes you, then you're probably right for the job.

Firstly, you're someone who enjoys the hustle. What we mean by this is that you must be resilient and have the ability to figure out alternative solutions when there isn't a straight path to achieving your goal.

Secondly, you should like talking to people. As a social rep, we'd ideally want someone who is very comfortable when it comes to making conversation with people. If you're someone who enjoys interacting with people, learning about new stuff and can be persuasive toward others then this role is just right for you! Also it helps if you have a decent grasp over how different social media platforms work and have a respectable following in a few of them (500 followers + on IG etc.)

Lastly, we need someone who isn't willing to take no for an answer easily. A lot of working for a startup has to do with learning to deal with failure and rejection. We need someone who can take this in their stride and continue with their progress unhindered.

If these sound like you, we can't wait to welcome you to the team. Please fill out the form below and we'll be in touch!
